Dear friends,

As we enter this time of lent, I pray you are keeping safe and cared for.

This is now our second season of lent during a pandemic. Lent is a time of reflection and preparation for the celebration of Easter. It marks the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness. As we contemplate our own wilderness, juggling all the responsibilities we have with the restrictions we are facing,  I hope you are taking the time to re-treasure all that is important in your life and are counting your blessings.

If you have taken up our lent challenge and are trying to use FairTrade items where possible, I want to share with you my findings in our village. I had approached RS Fine chocolate to see if they offered any FairTrade chocolate. Rob and Jo have advised me that whilst their chocolate does not carry the FairTrade label, they have responsibly sourced their chocolate. They get all their chocolate from "Callebaut - one of the best Belgium chocolate suppliers - they are sustainable, work directly with the cocoa farmers and they pay a farmer premium to support local cocoa communities."  The Coop and Tesco also sell a selection of Fairtrade goods.

Our Sunday services continue on YouTube and during Lent, we are also having a weekly reflection from various people - this will be available every Wednesday.

Please keep Jane, our vicar in your prayers whilst she takes some time off to rest.

Do stay safe and be assured of my prayers, be kind to yourself and take each day one day at a time and rest awhile in God’s love.

Almighty God,

give us reverence for all creation and respect for every person,

that we may mirror your likeness in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

With love and blessings,
